Common questions

What aspirants ask before starting

Yes. A significant number of successful candidates prepare through self-study. What matters is a structured approach, the right sources, consistent revision, and honest self-assessment — not the brand of coaching. Elevate IAS is built entirely on mentor-led self-study.
There is no standard answer. A working professional with 4 focused hours per day can clear UPSC in 2–3 attempts. A full-time aspirant with 10 distracted hours may not. Quality of study matters far more than quantity.
Most successful candidates take 2–4 years from starting to clearing. Some clear in the first attempt; some take all 6. Starting with a realistic timeline and a structured plan matters more than trying to rush.
Only if your finances allow at least 2 years of full-time preparation without pressure. Many working professionals clear UPSC without quitting. Quitting without a plan often adds anxiety without improving preparation quality.
There is no single "best" optional. The right optional depends on your academic background, genuine interest, scoring potential, and the availability of good material. Popular choices include Sociology, PSIR, History, Geography, and Anthropology — but success has come from almost every optional.
